Eurovision Nation Selection Season Blues 2018

What is with ALL of these National Final songs coming out!?

But these selections aren't until late February or March?

I mean, last year was bad enough. Digging through 10 selections in one weekend and me having to say Adio to all of them except for Melodifestivalen (I'm not missing Melfest for any Eurosong out there!) and having to either:
- watch the shows after NF season is done, or
- giving up the ghost and moving on with my life

:(

At least 2018 has Saara Alto and many of the songs are released much earlier so at least I'll have the courtesy of a a deep sigh.

*sucks in air*

Here we go...

*jumps in Eurovision waters*

Click the links below for all of the Eurovision NF songs out already:

And HERE (https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_0sq0JIyRW30Rl05CizSrN4hVOY0HXuUis ) our first selection from Albania done with the winning song, which is a legit soft rock song that's somewhere anthemic. Woah-ohhhahhoahh-ahhh-ohhh! (At 3:44 )

Eurovision Rant! An American TRYING To Watch Eurovision 2016

First, I want to congratulate Jamala from Ukraine, Dami Im from Australia, and (my fav) Sergey Lazarev from Russia for beasting ESC this year and wrecking my feels.

Now to me fussing about nothing...

I had to use a VPN and watch the BBC One commentary of Garham Norton (who is amazing). Now, I gotta use a VPN again just to watch clips on YouTube? Ugh. I'll telling my buddies not to watch the LOGO stream next year. All new fans can have the wonky LOGO stream that would completely freeze and I'd have to refresh the page every 10-15mins! What?

I guess since I had a slow stream I had a hard time but I was still able to watch on Eurovision.tv and on YouTube last year with that slow internet.

Folks! Forget this petition and download a VPN Extension on Chome store or Firefox and watch on Eurovision.tv and YouTube next year. Viacom is gonna pull new ppl anyway and the Eurofans don't matter at this point. Viacom is old fashioned and out of touch with what the other broadcasters around the world are doing. Accept this and move on, people!

BLACK GEEK RAAAAAAAAAGEEEE!

Top Worst Things About Watching Eurovision on the BBC

1. Graham Norton casting shade on the artists and countries you like.

2. You miss out on an song or two (or a whole interval act in 2012 final) because of licensing fees... EVERY YEAR!

3. The BBC forcing the commentators to talk over the hosts even though they're both speaking in English and saying the same thing. UGH!

4. When the livestream is choppy because everyone is watching the same thing online.

5. Finding a site or downloading a VPN to watch the livestream because you don't live in the UK.

6. Graham Norton or Scott Mills mispronouncing the names or songs and you know they knew better.

I have all love for them honestly. Especially Graham Norton so no foul.

Kiev To Host Eurovision 2017?

It looks like. Other cities have opted but the Mayor of Kiev seems to have it all down-packed.

So... Russia's Gonna Win

Russia' s gonna win. Accept it. It's a great entry with a catchy song and very high tech staging

Now on to Junior Eurovision 2016 in Malta! I predict an Irish, Dutch, or Georgian win. Lemme hit up Wikipedia for the list of countries...

There's supposed to be 18 countries but only these 6 gave their green light:

Albania (song comes out June 1st)
Bulgaria (June 11th)
Ireland (They had a Melodifestivalen style selection last year so I have high hopes this year)
Malta (host county, hello! BRING OUT THE BABY DIVAS!)
The Netherlands (Junior Songfestival is a good Disney-esque selection)
Russia (much of the usual)

Yep yep. Anyone here watch the Melodi Grand Prix Jr. for Norway and Denmark? Pretty decent scandipop.

I Noticed This On Wiwibloggs...

About Ovidui

being asked to duet with Lidia Isic from Moldova: "We invite Ovidiu Anton to perform alongside Moldova’s representative Lidia Isac. We are convinced that together the two can make an exceptional duet for the song “Falling Stars” at Semifinal 1 of Eurovisionon 10 May... Sounds like Moldova has accepted that they're not going to the final.

ROMANIA DROPPED OUT OF EUROVISION 2016!!!

:O

At least let Ovidui compete this year before you break the news. True, the Romanian broadcaster and government should've paid up their dues (€14 millions euros, $15 million USD) but damn. TVR (Romania's national broadcaster) only gets €130 million a year and lost €155 million last year. And Eurovision 2016 is in 2 weeks.

2 WEEKS!!!

:(

Bright side of a bad situation, Ovi is taking legal action against the EBU for the sudden kickass motion and, if all fails, another country has a chance to make the final this year.

Positive and concerned.

All hope & prayers goes out to Romania.

UPDATE: Ovidui is seeking legal action! I don't blame him.

Spanish Eurovision Pre-Review 2016

1. Maverick - Un Mondo Má Felizé
- If I were shopping at a Mexican/Latin clothing store, this would be the background music. Makes my hips shake but not my Eurovision ticket. 6 out of 10 pancho hoodies.

2. Salvador Beltran - Días de AlegĂer

- Similar to Maverick's song but more to it. Slightly better but still not really worth it. I hope the performance makes up for it. 6.5 out of 10 matching shoes for my panchos. 3. Maria Isabel - La Vida Solo Es Una - Decent but not a topper. She's better than the last two dudes by a mile but she sounds like other Mediterranean female artists. Not a bad thing (I like firey Med Terra divas) but I feel she'll be overlooked. 7 out 10 fiery suns! 4. ELECTRIC NANA - Now - Sounds like Scandinavian pop rock (aka Swedes might like it). It's quality. She even adds a cool edge to it (as if singing in part English wasn't edgy enough) and lights up my heart with promise that this selection will have variety! Alternative NOW! 7.5 out of 10 shades of red hair dye! 5. Xuso Jones - Victorious - EUROPOP EXTRAVAGANZA! That Euro-phoric trance could do it here. Plus, a little sausage couldn't hurt in Stockholm. 8 out of 10 fist pumps in the air in the club. 6. Barei - Say Yay - Everyone's hype off this one. A little Lady Gaga-esque and lively, this song could also do it with Victorious. I can't describe it... It hits you hard from the first 5 second- no... THE FIRST 3 SECONDS! This definitely ties with Victorious but could even beat that. 8 out of 10 Yay yay yays!

Eurovision: Tamar Kaprelin - The Otherside

6 Eurovision Stars Come Together For a Song.

And it's actually GOOD! (Better than Genealogy!)

American member Tamar Kaprelin brought together Genealogy bandmate from Japan Stephanie Topalian, Elhaida Dani (Albania), Elina Born (Estonia), & Maria Elena Kyriakou (Greece) got togehter for a basic ballad about seeing another's pain... From the other side.

So...

The Good: Tamar had 4 other Eurovision stars got together and made a song and it WASN'T A MESS! :O 12 points to her! The song had a natural feel that sounds like it was made and agreed over a cup of coffee in the morning, then they turned it into a UNICEF style international number.

Here are some examples if you don't know what I meant meant by UNICEF style songs

lol

But it's a good song.

The Bad: Basic ballad. The message if beautiful and if even just one person in the world could hear it and it inspires them then it did it's job. Sadly, nothing new. (see songs above).

The Ugly: lol Tamar got 4 Eurovision participants with little to no chance of winning ESC 2015 (Sorry, Elina.) to sing with her.

Score: 3/5 ESC Participants

Eurovision: Jedward - Leave A Mark

I was too lazy to make a post so here's the MV and Wiwibloggs reaction.

"The video sees the Grimes brothers at a beach and sometimes with a horse. They’re giving their very best serious video face, and even jump in the ocean for a dramatic wet look. These scenes are cut with footage of icons of the 20th century – people like JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Muhammad Ali, Amelia Earhart and Nelson Mandela. All people who have, in different ways, left a mark."

Junior Eurovisoin: No Lilla Melodifestivalen This Year!

Along with Cyprus. Sweden is dropping out of the JESC this year. :( Probably took cues from Denmark and Finland seeing the Scandis can't do well in this Slavic.

Maybe, they canceled it to help pay for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden in the Ericsson Globe Arena!

The parade ended at the
waterfront Clore Park, where
performances went on through the
night. Hosted by popular drag
artist Uriel Yekutiel, the concert
was headlined by Austria’s
Conchita Wurst, winner of the
2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

Seriously.  Where is Dana International?  Ding Dong, say something!

Here's Conchita and Dana performing at Eurovision Greatest Hits on the BBC singing Rise Like A Pheonix and ABBA's Waterloo.
