Eurovision Rant! An American TRYING To Watch Eurovision 2016

First, I want to congratulate Jamala from Ukraine, Dami Im from Australia, and (my fav) Sergey Lazarev from Russia for beasting ESC this year and wrecking my feels.

Now to me fussing about nothing...

I had to use a VPN and watch the BBC One commentary of Garham Norton (who is amazing). Now, I gotta use a VPN again just to watch clips on YouTube? Ugh. I'll telling my buddies not to watch the LOGO stream next year. All new fans can have the wonky LOGO stream that would completely freeze and I'd have to refresh the page every 10-15mins! What?

I guess since I had a slow stream I had a hard time but I was still able to watch on Eurovision.tv and on YouTube last year with that slow internet.

Folks! Forget this petition and download a VPN Extension on Chome store or Firefox and watch on Eurovision.tv and YouTube next year. Viacom is gonna pull new ppl anyway and the Eurofans don't matter at this point. Viacom is old fashioned and out of touch with what the other broadcasters around the world are doing. Accept this and move on, people!

BLACK GEEK RAAAAAAAAAGEEEE!

So... Russia's Gonna Win

Russia' s gonna win. Accept it. It's a great entry with a catchy song and very high tech staging

Now on to Junior Eurovision 2016 in Malta! I predict an Irish, Dutch, or Georgian win. Lemme hit up Wikipedia for the list of countries...

There's supposed to be 18 countries but only these 6 gave their green light:

Albania (song comes out June 1st)
Bulgaria (June 11th)
Ireland (They had a Melodifestivalen style selection last year so I have high hopes this year)
Malta (host county, hello! BRING OUT THE BABY DIVAS!)
The Netherlands (Junior Songfestival is a good Disney-esque selection)
Russia (much of the usual)

Yep yep. Anyone here watch the Melodi Grand Prix Jr. for Norway and Denmark? Pretty decent scandipop.

I Noticed This On Wiwibloggs...

About Ovidui

being asked to duet with Lidia Isic from Moldova: "We invite Ovidiu Anton to perform alongside Moldova’s representative Lidia Isac. We are convinced that together the two can make an exceptional duet for the song “Falling Stars” at Semifinal 1 of Eurovisionon 10 May... Sounds like Moldova has accepted that they're not going to the final.

ROMANIA DROPPED OUT OF EUROVISION 2016!!!

:O

At least let Ovidui compete this year before you break the news. True, the Romanian broadcaster and government should've paid up their dues (€14 millions euros, $15 million USD) but damn. TVR (Romania's national broadcaster) only gets €130 million a year and lost €155 million last year. And Eurovision 2016 is in 2 weeks.

2 WEEKS!!!

:(

Bright side of a bad situation, Ovi is taking legal action against the EBU for the sudden kickass motion and, if all fails, another country has a chance to make the final this year.

Positive and concerned.

All hope & prayers goes out to Romania.

UPDATE: Ovidui is seeking legal action! I don't blame him.

Spanish Eurovision Pre-Review 2016

1. Maverick - Un Mondo Má Felizé
- If I were shopping at a Mexican/Latin clothing store, this would be the background music. Makes my hips shake but not my Eurovision ticket. 6 out of 10 pancho hoodies.

2. Salvador Beltran - Días de Alegíer

- Similar to Maverick's song but more to it. Slightly better but still not really worth it. I hope the performance makes up for it. 6.5 out of 10 matching shoes for my panchos. 3. Maria Isabel - La Vida Solo Es Una - Decent but not a topper. She's better than the last two dudes by a mile but she sounds like other Mediterranean female artists. Not a bad thing (I like firey Med Terra divas) but I feel she'll be overlooked. 7 out 10 fiery suns! 4. ELECTRIC NANA - Now - Sounds like Scandinavian pop rock (aka Swedes might like it). It's quality. She even adds a cool edge to it (as if singing in part English wasn't edgy enough) and lights up my heart with promise that this selection will have variety! Alternative NOW! 7.5 out of 10 shades of red hair dye! 5. Xuso Jones - Victorious - EUROPOP EXTRAVAGANZA! That Euro-phoric trance could do it here. Plus, a little sausage couldn't hurt in Stockholm. 8 out of 10 fist pumps in the air in the club. 6. Barei - Say Yay - Everyone's hype off this one. A little Lady Gaga-esque and lively, this song could also do it with Victorious. I can't describe it... It hits you hard from the first 5 second- no... THE FIRST 3 SECONDS! This definitely ties with Victorious but could even beat that. 8 out of 10 Yay yay yays!

Europop... Sighs... Where Do I Begin.

Why I don't commit to Europop you ask? Well...

There's too many scene!!!

Scandipop, Dutch pop, French pop, Iberian pop (Spain and Portugal), Greece/Cyprus pop, Balkan pop (Serbia, Montenegro and others), Slavic pop (Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, and so many others), Turkish music, and *shakes in fear* Russian music.

And there's enough Russian music coverage for days.

I CAN'T DO IT! Oh no no no! lol

Kpop is a world by itself.

Eurovision is manageable and lets me cover some Europop

Now I'm not saying I'm gonna stop at those two; I just need a plan to post and talk about the music I love without being going on blogging overload. MVs, Teasers, Reviews, and details on the music market and the artists themselves takes a lot from you. That being said, don't expect a miracle any time soon.

With Bitter Love,

Me.

Scandipop, Vpop, Bollywood, and PopAraby

I'm extending my world beat pop music posts to music from:

Scandipop: Sweden (#1 country in pop music), Denmark, Finland (#1 country in heavy metal and death metal in the world), Iceland, and Norway (has a good RnB scene)

Vpop: Veitneses pop music because it's coming up in the Asian music scene.

Bollywood: Indian pop music. Mostly made for movies

and,

PopAraby: music in Arabic. Mostly from Cario, Egypt and Beruit, Lebonon since those are the biggest music scenes.

I may expand to Europop but they're are so many scenes in Europe.

Junior Eurovision: MALTA IS IN! They'll announce in July!

On July 11th, Malta will announce Federika Falson's successor for Junior Eurovision using...

Something Junior Eurovision needs more off...

A EUROSONG CONTEST!

From Junior Eurosong Blog :

"How it will work is: People can submit songs to PBS and a jury will select 20 songs (1 song per person). These 20 finalists will perform live on stage (no live backings). A jury made up of three people (chosen by PBS) will judge them live. There will also be televoting which is worth 25% of the vote. Interestingly they say "The selection of the song to be performed during JESC in Sofia will be chosen by PBS in consultation with the artist or his/her representative.  The song selected for JESC will not be the same song which was performed by the artist/s in the MJESC." Meaning that they will basically choose a singer based just on voice and then assign them a song.

Candidates between the age of 10 and 15 by 21 November 2015 need to be Maltese nationals or residents. There can be up to six persons on stage.  The song may be original or a cover version in Maltese or English and it must be sung live during the rehearsals and the final show.

Submissions for participation shall be received at PBS Creativity Hub in Gwardamangia on 19th June 2015 between 09:00 and 16:00.  The participation form must include a CD including a full playback version of the participating song, together with a backing track including backing vocals (but excluding the main voice). The participation fee is €150 per application."

Maltese children! GET ON IT!

Stay tuned for more Maltese and Junior Eurovision News! Also, check out the list of countries wanting in Junior and big Eurovision.

France Wll Return For Eurovision 2016... Regardless Of Bad Result

I'm happy but wouldn't be surprised if they dropped out.

From Wiwibloggs:

"At Eurovision 2015, French songstress Lisa Angell delivered a breathtaking performance of  “N’Oubliez pas”. Yet Europe — apparently unmoved — only awarded her four points, which left her in 25th position. French officials had harsh words about the result (so did Anggun), and that led Eurofans to worry that France would withdraw. France seemed to move from “N’Oubliez pas” to “Oubliez-moi” and we braced for the worst. Well it’s time to chillax. Today Charts in France reports that France 2 will return to Eurovision in 2016. That’s right: FRANCE WILL NOT WITHDRAW!"

Nina Subatti's new song Dark Desire

Already songs good. She's kept to her intense artsy fartsy electronica ways. This time much slower and smoother.

Click here for the clip of the bloodshed she unleased on all the women copying Conchita:

Wonder who'll be copying Nina in 2016. I wouldn't be surprise if Junior Eurovision has a list of little girls for the slaughter. Speaking of Junior Eurovision...

The Winner Of Eurovision Is... Sweden!

If you didn't watch and was living under a soundproof rock on Saturday, you'd know the Scandinavians have done it aging. This is Sweden's 6th success making this the land of meatballs' the 2nd winningest country behind the always classic Ireland. (Better yall better work on that Eurosong now, like Johnny Logan said.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sGOwFVUU0I
Because Melfest does not play.

Simple yet effective, his laser projection stick figure buddy and he's I've-only-got-one-shot-in-me dance moves brought light to an otherwise dead competition of depressed screaming cats in heat.

I'M A WARRIOAAAHHHH! HIYIEYIEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH! Mi corazon! Gimo muchas veces! Le gusta cuando mi brest resuenan?

That was a dumb joke but you got it.

SVT (the swedish tv station that deals with swedish eurovison and Melfest) has already started making plans and will talk with Jon Ola Sand as his homies about letting Denmark or another Scandi win next years Eurovison Song Contest. Details are next month and you'll know when I tell you.

Until then, here's this years' euro and Euro of years past.

Scandipop: Eric Saade's A Girl From Sweden... Gangstalicious

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGLth-fhUFw
Scandi meets trap music sound. Eric Saade might not have won Melfest 2015 but he can still walk like a winner with his Swedish girl. Only about 100,000 views in 5 days but worth the listen. Better watch soon because he's off for a weekend in Paris and heading to Miami as we speak. Grattis!

Here's his Melodifestivalen 2015 entry if you're still reeling off of Sting.

Conchita Wurst Asked By Lady Gaga to Open Her Concert

Can't say I didn't see this coming.

I mean come on, this is a Eurovision winner. I'm surprised Gaga herself hasn't performed on the famed european stage! Would've loved to see it.
